The day we met: The Castle Inn, SGHS & Ermysted's leavers pub crawl 3 pubs in to a 19 pub school leavers' bar crawl of Skipton, Chris caught a glance of Laura across the bar at the Castle Inn, Skipton. He, of course, didn't introduce himself. Instead he waited until pub number 16 to be introduced by a good friend... "have you met head boy?"

Two months later, after an exceptional first date in the local park, and near constant snapchatting we made it official. Distance: 16 miles

Our 1st year: Long-distance isn't so bad, with Chris studying at Durham and Laura earning pennies at home ahead of travelling. We jetted off on our first holiday to St Paul's Bay, Rhodes, eating ham and cheese baguettes on the beach and avoiding our ant infested digs. Our first festival together - Leeds Fest to see the greatest band ever to exist. You guessed it. Those slick Sheffield rockers, The Arctic Monkeys. Distance: 65 miles

Our 2nd year: Another year, another set of gigs, Chris' first all inclusive in Jamaica (a.k.a Chris reluctantly agreed to spend some money after landing his internship), our first trip to Robin Hoods Bay (a Loadman special place, though immediately less special to Laura as Chris leaves Laura for dead on a 30 mile bike ride) Laura starts uni in Liverpool, remarkably increasing the length of the long-distance. Distance: 111 miles

Our 3rd year: Chris graduates and moves to LDN, via a trip-of-a-lifetime in SE Asia, and 3 month training in New York. We turn 21. Distance: 180 miles (temporarily 3308 miles)

Our 4th year: A year of new experiences sharing the best times in Iceland, Interrailing across Europe, and a trip to Barcelona to see the Sagrada Familia. Distance: 180 miles

Our 5th year: Laura graduates and starts her pre-reg year. We road trip the Pacific Coast Highway (mutually agreed best holiday ever), and enjoy a romantic trip to Paris. Distance: 180 miles

Our 6th year: More badminton and subtropical swimming in Center Parcs, Laura's first (and penultimate) ski trip in Andorra, Paris round 2 (special request a "cute" balcony with pastries) followed by an incredible summer travelling the paddies and beaches of Bali. A key milestone: Our darling Spencer Bear joins the Pollard Clan. Distance: 108 miles

Our 7th year: Lockdown in Lancashire (ft shlid for Chris courtesy of his new home-barber Laura). We start to appreciate sharing the simpler things in life: cooking, camping, hiking, running (?). As lockdown lifts, we venture up north for a road trip to Scotland's West Coast, nearly beating the US West Coast. Distance: 0 miles

Our 8th year: Camping trips to the Lakes, Peaks and Dales. Laura convinced to watch rugby at Murrayfield by the promise of bagpipes. We become Auntie La La and Mr Brown and go back for seconds on Scotland, completing the North Coast 500 via Orkney. Distance 0 miles

Our 9th year: Having spent 6 months rent on a house not lived in, Chris decides its eventually time to move back to London. Laura's dream becomes a reality as we go experience New York at Christmas time. Shortly thereafter, Laura announces her resignation from skiing on the side of the slopes at her 2nd and final ski trip at 'Castle Apres'. We attend our first Glastonbury together (sadly no TayTay), and shortly after Chris starts his new job.. Head Office: Leeds Distance: 191 miles

Our 10th year: We move into our first place in a little Mill apartment. We become serious interior designers for our new rented gaff, and visit the Souks and Medina's of Morocco. Chris wins his first Loadman’s Golf Tournament (largest news of the year), Glasto Round 2 and a dreamy trip in the Cote d'Azur ft. road trip to Cinque Terre. We lose two extraordinarily special ladies, Nanna Joyce and Grandma Jean. Distance: 0 miles

Our 11th year: the busiest and best year yet... The year we became mum and dad. We grew, birthed (admittedly mostly Laura) and kept alive (joint effort) our tiny perfect little chunk, Fraser. We navigated the poonamis and sleepless nights. We moved TWICE and bought our home in Cononley. We become a fully fledged family.

Our 12th year: We solidified our perfect 3 course dinner for guests (top secret), made our house a home (ongoing, now awaiting further funding), we got ENGAGED (another reason for awaiting further funding). We made the most of our parental leave, with family holidays in Morocco (less said the better), Whitby/Robin Hoods Bay, Center Parcs, Bergen (to celebrate Ed & Andrine in style), we turned 30 and savoured every second of our journey with RKid. This year will now likely be 90% Wedding planning!
