Skipton is said to have the most pubs per capita in the country, and was once called "Little Ibiza" by the Manchester Evening News. Perfect place to fall in love on a pub crawl. Here's our favourites, in this order (all of which featured on the day we met);
(1) The Woolly Sheep - All the Timmy Taylors. Sun trap beer garden. Say no more.
(2) The Castle - great outside area in the shadow of the Castle
(3) The Narrow Boat - great beer and food
(4) Beer Engine - one for the beer goblins
(5) Boat House Bar - for a drink in the sun by the Canal
(6) Sound Bar - for a bit of Indie and Rock music
(7) Alexander's - if you don't like beer and want a classier vibe
Later night options include Sound Bar for live music, Speakeasy / Nightshade / Bar 25 for a cocktail or two, and Flutes & Fizz, Black Horse, or Kooky for a boogie
Other great pubs in the area include The New Inn, Cononley (our local), The Craven Arms, Appletreewick, The Fleece Inn, Addingham, and The Cavendish, Embsay, and of course The Devonshire Arms, Bolton Abbey
Skipton has an array of dining options. The below come highly recommended;
Le Caveau - As fine as dining gets in Skipton. Small venue so book ahead
Phoebe's - Simple menu but great food
Le Bistro Des Amis - French Yorkshire fusion. Intriguing? The seafood money bags are banging
Curious Fox - Lovely setting, lovely food. Book ahead
Efendy - 4.9* on Google - Recommend the Pide
Craven Kitchen - No frills curry
Elsewhere there's a cracking pork pie establishment (Stanforth's), and on the other end of the spectrum a Michelin Star restaurant 15 mins away in Hetton (The Angel)
Skipton attracts a lot of "granny tours' and therefore has a commensurate number of Cafes to cater. Our favourites;
Best Food - Bean Loved - recently renovated with a great, fresh menu
Best Coffee - The Coffee House / The Clubhouse
Best for Pottery Painting - Coffee and Clay - paint some pottery alongside a toastie or bacon butty
